Lucy’s Kitchen At Metro Town Kota Kinabalu

Basmathi Rice With Grilled Chicken

The first time I heard of Lucy’s Kitchen was when somebody was telling me about their exquisite durian crepe.  I don’t eat durian, so I didn’t pay any attention to the tale.  But then I saw it’s huge premise at Kepayan Ridge and the many diners inside, so I thought, hmm… I should try it out someday.  A friend of mine worked in the kitchen and have assured me that the food are halal.

Lucy’s Kitchen

One fine evening, while I was on an errand in Metro Town, I dropped by Lucy’s Kitchen.  I think it was about 7.30pm and the place was half full.  The seats and tables are small and the air-conditioning was very strong.  For me the seating arrangement was too crammed.  I haven’t tasted the food yet, but I was eager to run out of the restaurant because of the cold.  I should have sat outside but then again, all the seats are already taken.  So, I prayed for my order to arrive swiftly.  The menu was quite interesting, with variety of offerings, but I decided to order Basmathi Rice With Grilled Chicken while my wife ordered Lamb Chop – we’re quite conservative.  We ordered Kid’s burger for my son.

Basmathi Rice With Grilled Chicken

My order came first, thankfully.  The Lamb Chop soon after, but my kid’s burger arrived very, very late, so we asked them to pack it for takeaway.  To me, the grilled chicken tasted good and quite tender almost as though it was steamed, and the sambal was my favourite.  It reminded me of something I tasted long ago… but can’t quite remember.  The Lamb Chop was ok with a very generous portion but the meat was a bit chewy.  And we thought they forgot the mashed potatoes until we discovered it hidden under the lamb!  Very neat trick.  :D

By 8.30pm, the place was getting busier with more customers coming in.  Evidently, it’s a popular hangout place for families.  So, those wanting to dine at Lucy’s Kitchen should come either very early or much later.  I would definitely drop by Lucy’s Kitchen again – there are still many more items to sample!

Burger Bakar Titanic

Burger Bakar Lambogeni

Burger Bakar Lava Fisk

Titanic (RM8) menjadi pilihan saya.

Plus, ‘fork and spoon‘ cuma sampai selepas burger habis di makan :D Not a big deal bagi kami sebab kami fikir konsepnya seperti Burger King, i.e makan pakai tangan sahaja.

Burger Bakar rock!

I went to the food court (Anjung Selera) at Giant Hypermall Kolombong (1st Floor), and boy was I shocked – the ice water (not bottled mineral water, mind you) is RM0.80!  I believe that’s the most expensive cold drinking water in KK!

Would I go to eat there again?  Yes, definitely.  Why? Because :

anjung selera kolombong

  • There’s a kids’ playground in the food court area which all kids between 5 – 10 can use for free;
  • There is a ‘nasi campur’ section called ‘Selera Kampung’ which offers more than 10 vegetable dishes along with other dishes such as seafood and meat;
  • There are lots of other sections such as Pan Mee & Sizzling (can’t imagine the taste), Penang Food, Western dish, Noodle, Masakan Jawa, Mix Rice, Nasi Alakat, Fish Noodles and, of course, Chicken Rice.

I really wanted to give my tummy a rest from all meaty and fried stuff, so I ate only rice and veggies today from Selera Kampung – and they were delicious!  But I’ll bring my own water next time, if I’m not in the mood for sweet drinks.

Ipoh Lum Mee

Chinese food lagi.

Selepas time tu, siaplah, sesak kawasan ini.

Old Town White Coffee

Ipoh Lum Mee

Tapi overall memang sedap. Cuma as usual, saya perlukan cili untuk kasi pedaskan mee ni. Tapi. anak-anak saya yang tidak prefer makan pedas, would love this noodle.

Mee Kolok

Recently, I was hugely astonished to learn that Biryani Rice in a restaurant that I frequented has increased in price to RM9!  What the heck!  They say it’s to cover the minimum wage requirements.  Mind you, this is not an air-conditioned restaurant – this is the authentic Indian restaurant that serves roti kosong, etc, at usual price.   Some friends think that maybe the cost of basmathi rice has increased.  I really can’t comment on that.

Mee Kolok

However, I distinctly remember back in the days (only a few years ago actually) when the family’s favourite Nasi Ayam Rohayu (Chicken Rice) was sold at RM4, Biryani Rice was about RM5.  Now, Nasi Ayam Rohayu is RM6 and Biryani has increased tremendously.  Next year, when GST is enforced, I’m pretty sure that the prices of Nasi Ayam and Nasi Biryani are not going to sit still.  Fortunately, my wife and I cook quite regularly.  One could go bankrupt eating in the local restaurants!

Not being a frequent restaurant-goer, I was quite delighted to come across Restoran D’Kenyalang when I was in Tuaran town recently.  It is highly recommended by our fellow blogger, Blogger Mus of My.Mustaffa for it’s Mee Kolok.  Thanks bro!  Of course, I tried out the Mee Kolok (RM6) of Restoran D’Kenyalang.

Nasi Kukus Ikan Keli Berlada

According to Mus, the cook is 100% Sarawakian and the mee is also brought in from Sarawak.  The other dish we tried was the Nasi Kukus Ikan Keli Berlada (RM7.50).  The mee is quite thin, but not as thin as bi-hoon.  At first, I ate it without the curry soup.  I could taste a hint of spices in the mee.  Then, I pour in the curry soup and it tasted much better.

Tuaran Map

G-Mart Tuaran

The Nasi Kukus Ikan Keli Berlada was also quite nice, and I believe it’s not easy to find restaurants serving ikan keli here in Kota Kinabalu.  So, if you happen to be in Tuaran next time, do drop by Restoran D’Kenyalang.   Look for the huge G-Mart or One Stop Superstore yellow signage (quite new shoplots), then drive straight till you reach the last building.  Restoran D’Kenyalang is situated somewhere in the middle of the last building.

Rumbia tree has multiple uses : the leaves can be woven into roofs; the branch can be used to build fences, walls, as a torch, etc; the skin of the branch can be woven into basket or mat; the trunk can be consumed as a delicious vegetable or turned into sago (a type of starch); the skin of the trunk used to make mats; and many more other uses.

Ambuyat Grace Point Ambuyat @ Grace Point, Kota Kinabalu

Sago Aka Ambuyat

The sago made from rumbia trunk, when mixed with hot, boiling water and stirred well will result in a white glue-paste substance, very sticky, and is affectionately called Ambuyat.  Ambuyat is a traditional staple of the Brunei and Bisaya people of Sabah, eaten usually during special events, substituting rice.  It is consumed while hot, dipped in other dishes such as fish soup (Ikan Rebus) and veggies or sauces.  The dips are usually sour in taste and chillies are added to make them spicier.

An authentic ambuyat experience requires the use of chandas, a chopstick-like utensil made from bamboo.  Chandas is stuck into the ambuyat, and then pulled out with some ambuyat sticking on the prongs, then it will be twirled to gather more ambuyat (like twirling spaghetti on a fork) until you get a satisfactory amount of ambuyat on it.  Then you dip the ambuyat into the sauce and quickly swallow it.

But if you just like to have a taste of it, do drop by Sagang Tialiu at Grace Point, Sempelang, Kota Kinabalu.  Grace Point is a spacious and comfy food court maintained by Sutera Harbour & Resort, offering various cuisine such as western, Malay, Chinese, Indian, ethnic, and so forth.  The washroom is hotel quality, there’s a palyground for kids and also a park for joggers.  There’s even a Pastry Shop at Grace Point, selling Sutera Harbour Resort cakes and buns.  The doughnut is very costly (RM6 each) but really soft and delicious.

Grace Point is located near The Double Six Memorial Monument.  Each year, on the 6th June, a memorial service would be held there to remember the tragedy that took the lives of  several Sabah leaders when their plane crash onto the site on the 6th June 1976.

Sagang Tialiu Ambuyat @ Grace Point, Kota Kinabalu

Back to ambuyat.  The stall, Sagang Tialiu offers Ethnic Sabah Traditional Food such as ambuyat set (RM12), hinava (RM5/RM8), ampap set (RM8), tuhau (RM3/RM6), salted fish crackers/keropok ikan masin (RM6), etc.   But there’s no chandas provided so I had to twirl the ambuyat around a fork, like spaghetti.  It’s gooey, tasteless and thick, that’s why the dips are necessary.  In the set is fish, additional fish sauce in the bowl, chilli paste, sambal belacan paste and something I suspect to be tuhau, a taste that I haven’t acquired for.

It was a very fulfilling meal, the ambuyat could easily feed 4 adults.  I wish they provided the chandas, though.

Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce Kak Nong Restaurant: Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce

Somebody was craving to have a taste of her favourite Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce – so I obliged her.  It has been quite a while since I last had a meal at Kak Nong’s, a local multi-award winning restaurant.  Situated about a minute away from Sutera Harbour Resort and Kota Kinabalu city centre, it is a favourite among locals who appreciate high quality food at a reasonable price.

Kak Nongs Kak Nong Restaurant: Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce

Kak Nong Restaurant

Though there were quite a lot of choices on the menu, I just picked Rendang Daging (beef rendang) with rice (RM8.50), probably because the world cup season and the Malaysian Super League have made me crave for some meaty, beefy, man-ly, cuisine – hooray!  Plus, I  miss it…

kak nong kota kinabalu Kak Nong Restaurant: Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce

Kak Nong’s Cendol

First to arrive were our Cendol Susu (RM4.00).  Somehow, we both ordered for the same thing.  But our opinion totally differed – I thought it was fine, she thought it’s not sweet enough (she said ‘tawar’, actually).  She preferred more gula Melaka – a professed sweet-tooth who claims she has it under tight reins, hmph!

Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce Kak Nong Restaurant: Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce

Fried Prawn at Kak Nong restaurant Kak Nong Restaurant: Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce

The Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce

The portion of both dishes are okay, enough to share among us.  The Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce is Kak Nong’s special recipe which we can’t find anywhere else in KK.  The price is quite hefty RM15.00, with rice.  We were glad to note that it maintained its delicious taste though the prawns looked smaller than the last time we ate there (then again, we could be dreaming …).  But never mind, it was still tasty and the slices of chillies provided were fiery enough to make our noses runny.  It’s a nicely prepared dish, if you don’t like it hot, just skip the chillies.

Kak Nong’s Rendang

As for the beef rendang … it was red.  I was expecting a brownish rendang, with kerisik and all – but this was the rendang that I had:

rendang Kak Nong Restaurant: Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce

Maybe it’s a different version of rendang.  But the meat was tender and it was quite spicy – so it was fine with me.  Kak Nong’s also sell pastry such as chicken mushroom bun, buttermilk bun, peanut bun, puddings, local kuih and puddings.

Anyway, Puasa is coming in about 3 days’ time, and I look forward to strolling along the Bazaar Ramadhan stalls where Cendol will be sold in abundance, for sure.

Ramadhan Buffet & Meal Deals: Buffet Ramadhan Casa Ombak

Ramadhan Buffet Ramadhan Buffet & Meal Deals: Buffet Ramadhan Casa Ombak

There is an abundance of Ramadhan Buffet deals on offer nowadays, you are just spoilt for choices.  Hotels and restaurants are rushing to join the bandwagon to promote their Ramadhan buffet offerings and the deals could cost anyway between RM30 to more than RM100 per person.  Honestly, how many of us have surrendered to that temptation?

ramadhan Ramadhan Buffet & Meal Deals: Buffet Ramadhan Casa Ombak

Why do I classify ‘Ramadhan Buffet’ as a temptation?

Temptation is defined as “a desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise”.  Simply think of the calories, the costs and time spent while facing a buffet spread.  Chances are, when you come face to face with a Ramadhan buffet after a day of fasting, you’ll overeat and then overeat again, which can cause indigestion and heartburn.  And it is especially wrong, unwise and harmful for those who are overweight and have other health concerns such as diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.  For those who are perfectly healthy, moderation is the key.

But can anyone really practice moderation in front of a temptation?

Afterall, there’s no point being at an eat-all-you-can buffet if you don’t really eat.  You must savour the dishes (at least a bite of all those you like), take your time (so you don’t choke) and have some company (so you don’t get bored eating alone for hours).  Is there a way to make buffets harmless or at least, less harmful?

Here are some tips I gathered and prefer, to minimize the impact of buffet meals on the body:

  • Wear clothes that fits you snugly, and has a subtle way of letting you know when you have had too much to eat.
  • Take a seat at a table that is furthest away from the main buffet spread – you’ll get to exercise on your way to and from mountain of food.
  • Break your fast with water and dates, fruits or simple kuih (pastry) first and take a break – perform Maghrib.
  • Have a look at the spread, pick a smaller plate and choose only those that you know you like (avoid wastage) – preferably those that are prepared with less oil and sugar.  If you are a fan of ulam, veggies and fruits – then go for it all.
  • Skip white carbohydrates such as rice, pasta or bun.
  • Eat slowly and chew your food well.  Then wait 15 minutes before deciding if you want to have another round.
  • Share the sweetness – grab the cakes or ice cream and stuff, then share your plate with your companion.
  • Sip lots of fluid in between each meal.

While we’re on the topic of buffet meals, let me share with you this fine deal at Casa Ombak.  Located strategically at Jalan Damai off Jalan Ampang this place is easy to find, especially to the city folks out there. What’s so great about Casa Ombak?

First of all, Casa Ombak is not just an ordinary restaurant or hotel that offer buffet during Ramadhan period.  In fact this is not a restaurant at all. This is a fully functioned bungalow that has been turned into a place for gathering or events. In this case, we shall say ‘iftar gathering’.  With all the gardens and decoration in place, people who come here will feel like being at home. Yup, like having iftar at your own house minus the cooking and cleaning. icon biggrin Ramadhan Buffet & Meal Deals: Buffet Ramadhan Casa Ombak Plus, the food are absolutely delicious too.

How much does the buffet cost?

At RM55 per head (RM27 for kids), this is simply one of the best Ramadhan Buffet deals in the city.  Do try out their masakan kampong, ikan bakar (grill fish), Nasi Kerabu, Paru Sambal, ulam sambal belacan plus many more. Enjoy great view of the modern KL’s skyscrapers while taking a leap back to the past with the masakan kampong.

A little bit about Casa Ombak….

Like I said, Casa Ombak is not a restaurant. The whole concept of ‘Buffet Ramadhan Casa Ombak’ was specially designed for this year’s fasting season. Then again, who knows, they might extend it into a full-time restaurant post-Ramadhan.

Casa Ombak is wholly owned by Ombak Creative Solution who are involved in the business of planning and catering for weddings.  They had been in the business for quite a while and this year they decided to come up with this new concept. Excellent!

Those who wish to know more about this place can contact the owner, Akma Omar who happens to be a successful blogger cum entrepreneur:

At the moment, my resolve to maintain a healthy diet plus a game or two once a week, is still going steady.  I even managed to skip drinking coffee this Ramadhan as it’s dehydrating – except for 1 day when it was served at a family function and it totally slipped my mind.

But later, say, after 15 days of fasting, I’m not so sure… I might find myself in the middle of a buffet spread so tempting that I may snooze through sahur.  Anyway, if you have or are enjoying a buffet meal, don’t be too hard on yourself – we are allowed to occasionally over-indulge… icon biggrin Ramadhan Buffet & Meal Deals: Buffet Ramadhan Casa Ombak

Durian Fiesta, Tuaran

Great news for all lovers of the king of fruits, durian, residing within driving-distance from Tuaran, Sabah! In conjunction with ‘Eat Local Fruits‘ campaign, Durian Fiesta will be held in Tuaran, Sabah, from 15 – 17 August 2014 (this weekend, folks!).  So, if you have no aversion to these wonderful food (which I honestly could not stand, but which my darling wife loves), and want instant durians to gobble, then do travel to Tuaran and head straight for the Tuaran Community Hall (Dewan Masyarakat Tuaran) on those dates.

According to a FAMA officer which we contacted recently, there will be many types of local durians offered such as durian kahwin, durian kampung, durian dalit, etc.  I don’t know whether the expensive Musang King variety will make an appearance…

Each person will be charged RM20 for the chance to eat as much durian as she/he could for a period of one (1) hour only.  The durian eating will be held in sessions and each session is believed to be able to accommodate about 50 people.

When I asked around, many durian lovers think that RM20 is quite expensive and will not allow them to enjoy the experience.  According to them, durians should be eaten leisurely with family and friends, while chit chatting, etc.  So, at that price, I hope they’ll also provide free bottled water – and wouldn’t it be nice if each participant/customer is given at least a small container to take home?  Anyway, how much durian can a person enjoy in an hour?  Gorging on durians in a rush may be hazardous to health for those with high blood pressure.

So, it’s important to note is durian‘s high calorie content and to remember not to consume durian with alcohol or carbonated beverages – your stomach may not be able to tolerate the combination.

By the way, I read in Borneo Post online that the Durian King ARW outlet held an eat-all-you-can Durian Fest at its Asia City outlet for only RM10 per person last month.  Although I don’t desire durian at all, I hope they’ll do it more often, for the sake of durian-lovers. icon biggrin Durian Fiesta, Tuaran

The Awesome Mee Bandung Muar

$

I bet many Muarians will tell you that one of the best food ever created in this planet is the spicy and awesome Mee Bandung Muar. It kick starts at your mouth and goes straight into your head. It is simply extraordinary as each mouthful is rich and bursting with egg, beef and prawn flavor. There’s simply no stopping once you have started. I couldn’t recall a time when I did not finish my Mee Bandung. In fact, everytime I go back to my hometown Muar, I must look for this food first. Freaky awesome food.

About Mee Bandung

Mee Bandung, is a traditional malay cuisine (noodle) which originated from Muar, Johor. The word ‘bandung‘ is not to be confused with Bandung, Indonesia as it actually has malay meaning, i.e  “mixed” or “pairs“. A check on the recipe, you will find that Mee Mandung consists of several ingredients that are mixed together. Hence the name “mee bandung” was given.

Originally mee bandung consisted of only noodles and eggs besides its soup that was made of a mixture of chilli, onion, spices, etc. However, today the Mee bandung recipe has been improved with the addition of meat, shrimps, fish cakes and vegetables. It also can be found all overMalaysia but without a shadow of doubt the one in Muar is still the best!

The Best Place To Eat Mee Bandung In Muar

So where in Muar can you find the best Mee Bandung? I know many tourists will stop at Jalan Abdullah to eat Mee Bandung but the best one isn’t there. Well, that is according to my own  experience. Do talk to local folks for more info, especially the older generation. To me, you  should go to either Jalan Junid (night time only) or Tanjung Agas (Kg.Kenangan Tun Syed Nasir) for the ultimate experience of  Mee Bandung Muar. The one at Jalan Sulaiman and Medan Selera are also not bad either.

Mee Bandung Gravies

Like nasi goreng, mee goreng and many other traditional malay cousine, you can also find Mee Bandung gravies (perencah mee bandung) on the market. The most popular gravy in Muar is Perencah Mee Bandung Muar by Hj. Sernan. I brought a few packets back to Kota Kinabalu since I can’t find any restaurant here that sells authentic Mee Bandung. It is easy to cook and it tastes quite delicious.

So if anyone of you stop by the Royal Town of Muar, please don’t forget to try out the amazingly delicious Mee Bandung Muar. Not recommended for those who doesn’t like spicy food, though!

Mee Rebus Muar

Next to Mee Bandung Muar, Mee Rebus is probably one of the most sought after food in the Royal Town of Bandar Maharani Muar. The less-than-two-minutes-to-prepare noodle (assuming the gravies are already prepared in advance), is normally eaten by the local folks early in the morning as breakfast together with sate Muar. Stroll along Jalan Abdullah to Jalan Sisi and Jalan Maharani and you’ll see quite a number of coffee shops selling Mee Rebus and sate and most of them are full especially before the office-hour starts. Have a seat and enjoy one of the proud products of Muarians at just a fraction of the price of a Spaghetti.

Mee Rebus Muar Recipe

In truth preparing mee rebus is quite easy and ordinary folks like me and you should have no problem to cook your own mee rebus. Nonetheless, the secret to a good mee rebus lies on how you prepare the gravy since it is the key ingredient of this noodle. Therefore, you must make sure that all the things that you need to put inside the gravy such as the meat, sweet potatoes, dried shrimp, etc. are mixed perfectly and cooked accordingly. Then, you’ll have an awesome homemade mee rebus Muar for you and your family.

Best Place To Get Mee Rebus Muar

My favourite has always been mee rebus Sapari family at Jalan Abdullah, not far from the police station. They used to sell mee rebus at Jalan Sisi buat now have moved to a new location at Jalan Abdullah. Great place to eat sate too. The place was jam packed when I came on the fourth day of Eid last month. Luckily, we managed to get a seat and enjoyed the delicious mee rebus.

Panduan Perniagaan Cupcake small

Panduan Perniagaan Cupcake

Namun, mengikut Mary Bellis, pakar laman web About.

Mengapa Berniaga Cupcake?

Think about it. There’re small, so they are perfect if you’re feeling puckish but don’t want to stuff yourself. While they come in different sizes such as ‘normal’, ‘mini’ and in some cases ‘large’, buy two of the same type and you’ll never again have to listen to your children fight over who got the bigger slice or the most strawberry/shaved chocolate garnishing.

And best of all, they come in a huge variety of different flavours. You could have a cupcake a day and still not have sampled all the variations that are out there.

Cuba belikan kek coklat slice.

Pelanggan puas hati, perniagaan rancak kembali.

Panduan Perniagaan Cupcake 2

Belajar Buat Cupcake

Tip-Tip Dan Panduan Perniagaan Cupcake Oleh Pakar

At first it may be difficult because many do not know your product’s quality, but over time and with your product’s quality, your customers will come by themselves.

Cuba tonton videonya dulu:

Mandu – Korean Dumpling

Mandu

Mandu

There are many variations of dumplings – filling, taste, look, texture, etc.  My fondness for Chicken Dumpling blossomed when I first tasted it at He Jia Sea Food Restaurant a few years ago. It’s creamy, tender and bursting with juice.

Good dumpling wrappers with elastic, chewy texture are my favourite because they are fun to eat and if the wrapper is not too thick, you can enjoy the taste of the chicken inside and it’s ohh…. so sweet!

Mandu

Well, during this year’s Chinese Lunar New Year celebration, we stopped at Grace Point KK to have a family lunch after visiting relatives for CNY as my wife is half-Chinese.

It so happened that, there was a stall that sells Korean Food and one of the items on the menu is Mandu, a Korean dumpling.

Korean Dumpling

Obviously, I couldn’t resist ordering Mandu.

We passed it around for everyone to taste – it was absolutely great and everyone loved it.  The sauce was unnecessary, in my opinion, as I think it is good on its own.

This Mandu costs RM11 per set of 8 pieces.

Ayam Penyet Wak Doyok

Ayam Penyet Wak Doyok

Kami bukanlah peminat Nasi Ayam Penyet.

Nasi Ayam Penyet Wak Doyok

Satay & Kelupis at Brunei Satay House III

Brunei Satay House

satay bakar

Like many Malaysians, I am a fan of the glorious local traditional dish – Satay.  Satay is a dish consisting of skewered meat, chicken, etc, grilled over charcoal fire and served with peanut sauce.  The usual accompaniments are cucumber and nasi impit (rice).

Being hitched to an anak Muar, who was used to having satay for breakfast, makes me love Satay even more.

And being a Sabahan, I also love Kelupis, which hubby also loves.  We are a family that enjoy having Satay and Kelupis – moderately, of course.

So, imagine our delight when we came across a restaurant that serves both satay and kelupis so near to our home.  The merry and cozy restaurant is called Brunei Satay House III (BSH III), located in Taman Indah Permai shophouses, Sepanggar.

A quick search reveals that BSH was started in Beaufort and BSH III is one of the branches.

BSH III Signboard2

Brunei Satay House III (BSH III)

What I like about BSH III, beside its delicious food, is the very courteous and helpful staff.  Therefore, it’s no wonder that it’s very often filled with customers.  And BSH III is very easy to contact – just message or whatsapp, and you’ll get a reply.

We have sampled all their satay variations – ayam, daging, perut and kambing,  and also tried the kelupis, kouchung and Mee Kari Brunei Sate House – all are absolutely delicious.  I tell you, it’s not easy to get satay perut, satay kambing, kouchung and kelupis in one place in KK.  If I’m not mistaken, the satay are especially made in Beaufort and brought to KK.

And I also agree with most of its satisfied customers that the sate portion is bigger that the usual satays served elsewhere in KK.

Brunei Satay

Look at this lovelies!  The wrapped pieces are kouchung and kelupis.  Kouchung is basically glutinous rice, cooked with coconut milk and mixed with some crushed peanuts.

IMG_8615

The same goes with Kelupis, but without the peanuts.  The key to their wonderfully different taste and aroma is the type of leaves used to wrapped them in. ie, pandan, nyirik, etc.

Kelupis would also be smashingly yummy when eaten with rendang or curry dish.

IMG_8617

So far, we’ve ordered twice for family special occasions.  I just drop by the restaurant a few days before the event, make my order, agree on the date and time to pick-up the order, and pay a deposit.   They’ve proven to be very dependable and professional.

And here is the menu:

Menu BSH2

So, if you’re in Kota Kinabalu, do visit Brunei Satay House III and if you plan to visit Kota Kinabalu, do add BSH III to your 10 Things To Do When You Travel to Sabah😀

BSH III opens daily from 9.30am – 10.00pm, except on the 3rd Monday of the month.  For any enquiries, feel free to call 014 6921233 (Shop) or 016 8435981 (Ag Shahril).

Me – I’m planning to try their cendol and rojak next!
